Bernard H. Clark

Beginning in 1935 while he was in seventh grade, Bernard H. Clark spent the past 70 years involved in various aspects of 4-H.

He served as a county agent, established the swine show for the West Florida Fair and Livestock Show and Sale, and served as secretary and director of the Gadsden County 4-H Livestock Club, which is still one of the most popular clubs in the county.

In the 1950’s and ‘60’s, under Bernard’s direction, Gadsden County 4-H’ers planted thousands of pine trees, which later became profitable for 4-H youth, and a valuable donation to the University of Florida. Each county club received a portion of the profits made from harvesting the trees, and a cattle herd was purchased for the UF Agricultural Experiment Station in Quincy.

He continues his consistent contributions to the Florida 4-H Foundation.
