Bicycle Project

In the 4-H Bicycle projects, you will learn:

• how to develop marketable and productive skills for work and
  family life in science and technology;
• how to effectively communicate with others; and
• skills such as decision-making, getting along with others, planning and organizing, and responsibility.

BICYCLE (For Youth Ages 5-13)

Youth will see the world's colors whiz by and feel the wind in their face.  With Bicycle Adventures they can map their own route to the world of bicycling and have the confidence to navigate whatever comes their way.  Bicycling is a path to independence from the first ride, to the first tire patch, to the first time they organize their own ride or event.  New Horizons will be theirs with Bicycle Adventures.

Cloverbuds (Ages 5-7)

• Bicycling for Fun teaches 4-Hers the basics of bicycling and how to choose your first bike, as well as the rules of the road and how to choose a safe place to ride. Available through National 4-H Council. 

Level 1 (Ages 8-10)

• Bicycling for Fun teaches 4-Hers the basics of bicycling and how to choose your first bike, as well as the rules of the road and how to choose a safe place to ride. Available through National 4-H Council. 
• Wheels in Motion will teach how to identify the parts of a bike and to maintain and repair your bike by checking tires and chains, this book also teaches you how to ride on the road and the skills you will need. Available through National 4-H Council.

Level 2 (Ages 11-13)

• Wheels in Motion will teach how to identify the parts of a bike and to maintain and repair your bike by checking tires and chains, this book also teaches you how to ride on the road and the skills you will need. Available through National 4-H Council.

Level 3 (Ages 14-18)

• There is no project guide for this level.

Leader/Helper Guide

This Helper's Guide will help you support youth in his or her efforts to set goals and complete activities, as well as providing resources for the member's to use in completing the series. Available through National 4-H Council.

Don't Get Stuck: Fix It
This video will help kids learn to fix their own bike.  With the guidance of this video they can be on the go again. Available through National 4-H Council on either video or DVD.
