Florida 4-H School Enrichment Curricula

4-H School Enrichment is one of the many delivery systems UF Extension 4-H Programs uses to deliver a series of planned educational experiences to Florida youth.  These programs  are designed for youth to receive a minimum of six hours of direct teaching by Extension staff or trained volunteers, who may be the classroom teacher, as part of the school curriculum.

Any 4-H "project" or curricula can be used in a school setting, however, specific curricula have been designed to be used for this delivery system. Listed below are some of the most popular curricula used for school enrichment 4-H programs.  You may explore other materials under the complete curricula list under PROJECTS above.

  Energy Encounters
This project will help youth understand the environmental and economic issues associated with Energy.  The concepts learned are; energy sources, solar energy, electric energy, conservation, and the environment.

  Junior Master Gardeners
Make plantable greeting cards... discover the wonderful world of worms... use peanut butter, chocolate chips, and cereal to learn about soil aggregates...find out how plants clean water...create your own ethnic vegetable garden...and more.  Students can become a certified Junior Master Gardener by completing all eight subjects in

  Embryology
Egg-splore the science of embryology from egg to chicken.  This school based curriculum is designed in two levels
--beginner and advanced   The first level egg-splores embryology from incubation to hatching.  The second level incorporates several experiments that focus on reinforcing scientific method.  In both levels, there are student sheets, color posters, and interactive web based curriculum experiences.  Students and teachers alike will find this curriculum both egg-citing and egg-speriential!

  Earth Connections
This project focuses on earth, air and water and is a curriculum designed to help K-2 or Grades 3-5 year old youth understand the environmental and stewardship issues associated with soil, air, and water conservation and quality.

  Pizza Garden: An Agriculture Adventure!
This is an agricultural adventure resource that is designed for educators to teach young people, grades 2 through 4, about where their food originates from by using something children love to eat:  PIZZA!  Using 8 lessons and fun hands-on activities, this resource material helps young people learn about nutrition, careers and language arts all at the same time.
