Theatre and Performing Arts Project

In the 4-H Theatre and Performing Arts projects, you will learn:

  • how to successfully prepare for and give public presentations;
  • how to improve your interpersonal communication skills in writing, speaking and listening;
  • how to use creative ways to communicate your ideas and information;
  • how to display a stronger self-image and feelings of safety when trying new things; and
  • skills such as decision-making, getting along with others, self-responsibility, planning and organizing.

Choose From These Projects:

THEATRE ARTS (For Youth Ages 8-18)

Wouldn’t it be fun to pretend, create sound effects, put on makeup, become a character and take a bow? You will experience all of these through the three levels of the Theatre Arts Adventures activity guides. You will explore the areas of acting, mime, movement, puppetry and technical theatre (from makeup to costumes to lighting).

Level 1 - Juniors (Ages 8-10)

  • Play the Role allows you to explore the world of theater arts and imagination. Available through National 4-H Council.

Level 2 - Intermediates (Ages 11-13)

  • Becoming a Puppeteer! teaches you how to create sound effects, make puppets and prepare a puppet skit. Available through National 4-H Council.

Level 3 - Seniors (Ages 14-18)

  • Set the Stage teaches you how to do improvisations, create disguises, and design costumes, while working on skills such as problem solving, accepting differences, communicating, and decision making. Available through National 4-H Council.

Leader/Helper Guide

This Helper's Guide will help you support youth in his or her efforts to set goals and complete activities, as well as providing resources for the member's to use in completing the series. Available through National 4-H Council.  

PERFORMING ARTS (For Youth Ages 8-18)

Wouldn’t it be fun to pretend, create sound effects, put on makeup, become a character and take a bow? You will experience all of these through the three levels of the Performing Arts guides. You will explore areas mime & clowning, dance & movement, and music & sound.
